FORM 3 WEANING REPORT / YEARLING WORKSHEET

GENERAL: Complete the boxes as follows for each type of information.
Yearling information on your calf-crop is optional under the guidelines of Whole Herd TPR.  However, if you report some yearling data, you must report for all animals of that sex from the calf-crop for it to contribute towards your herd's EPDs.  Make sure to report either a yearling weight and date or disposal code for every calf of the same sex in this year and calving season's calf-crop.  Failure to do so will prevent the yearling weights submitted from being used in EPD analyses until complete information it submitted.
  
CALF’S INFORMATION: HERD ID -Calf’s Herd Identification number. (maximum 8 characters)
REGISTRATION NUMBER -Calf’s registration number on file at the AHA office.
DAYS OF AGE -Age of calf when weaning weight taken.
SEX -Calf’s Sex. (B=BULL, C=Cow or Heifer, S=Steer)
ACTUAL WW -Calf’s actual weaning weight recorded on file at the AHA office.
ADJ WW -Calf’s weaning weight adjusted for age of calf and age of dam.
WW RATIO -Adj. weaning weight expressed as ratio to average of contemporary calves.
  
YEARLING DATA:
CALF’S INFORMATION:  CHANGE SEX? -change sex to steer if (and only if) calf was castrated a significant amount of time prior to collecting weight as a yearling.
WEIGH DATE -Date calf weighed as yearling. Calves from a calving season should be weighed within a 7 day period (MM/DD/YY).
WEIGHT -Yearling Weight. (Actual calf’s weight taken between 301 and 530 days of age. Animals weighed outside this age span will be marked irregular for yearling ratio.)
YEARLING MANAGEMENT CODE -Yearling Management Type (formerly called Feed Code). (0=Do Not Ratio*, 1=Pasture or roughage only, 2=Pasture or roughage with supplement, 3=Dry lot fed, low energy ration, 4=Dry lot fed, high energy ration, 5=Fitted, 6=Bull test, 7=Other)
   *No Ratio Calculated.
YEARLING GROUP-Calf’s Yearling Group. (1=Group 1, 2=Group 2, 3=Group 3, etc. Maximum 2 characters) Assign a different MGMT group number for each group of calves treated differently.
SCROTAL -Bull calf’s scrotal measurement (centimeters).
HIP HEIGHT -Calf’s hip height measurement (inches).
DISPOSAL CODE -Calf’s Disposal Code. If yearling weight is not available on an animal, record disposal information to remove it from the herd.


WEANING CONT. ID -Breeder defined contemporary group ID.
WEANING CONT. # HEAD - Number of calves (within calf crop) ratiod together in contemporary group.
